  1. I love this idea! A CLASS DEVOTED TO FACEBOOK?! It sort of would give meaning to the time I waste on it! haha…
    Honestly, though, I think the concept of looking at the “psychology of Facebook” and extending on the research done previously that they did on how Web 2.0 application affect and persuade people is pretty substantial. There has to be a reason why so many people are so dedicated, right?!
    I think it’s pretty cool.

  2. I have heard (can’t give you a source) that Facebook and MySpace are so popular, because young kids can’t “hang out with buddies down the block” because parents are so overprotective and hypervigilant about avoiding predators and scheduling each minute of children’s social interaction.
    In other words, since kids can’t socially experiment with identity and self-definition in person, they turn to Facebook for a chance to “create and re-create” themselves….
    It’s an interesting hypothesis.
    But the Stanford class is on how to create web applications for Facebook-computer programming and the like. But I like how you think! :)KMP
